MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY

Welcome to our Second Annual Mike Venner Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament.

It is hard to believe that a year has passed and we are gearing up to golf in this wonderful tournament again.  It is easy for us to say that last year was a great success.  First, the weather cooperated and we couldn’t of had a better day.  Second, the tournament was meticously prepared and everything was in order from the moment people arrived to the moment people left.  This is due in large part to the committee who worked so hard and all of the people who donated their time and energy to make it so successful.  There were several highlights from last year’s tournament, but none that can exceed the moments of Donovan and Turea teeing the first ball off at each golf course.  This was a special moment for us all, and will be engraved in our memories forever.  I believe that everyone could pick a moment or highlight from the tournament last year and call it their own.  Whether it was spinning the shot wheel, bidding on auction items, sharing stories or exaggerating that 50 foot putt.  Regardless the memory, the tribute to Mike and the influence he had on all of our lives was ever present.  I know that we would all rather have Mike physically with us for such an occasion, but through our friendship he will always be with us spiritually.  Henry Van Dyke wrote, “A friend is a precious possession; whose value increases with the years.  Someone who doesn't forsake us when a difficult moment appears.  And our road will be smooth and untroubled no matter what care life may send; If we travel the pathway together, and walk side by side with a friend."  I truly look forward to creating new memories, sharing old ones, and continuing Mike’s legacy through this years tournament. Last but not least “Thank You” to everyone who has made this possible. I encourage you all to send in any highlights or special memories of last years tournament, so we can post them on the website.

Sincerely,

The Venner Family
